02 / BATTERY STORAGE

Save some daylight
for later.

Solar generation and everyday demand don’t always happen at the same time. Storage can help connect them — when it fits the system and the way you use energy.

Not more sunshine.
More choice about when.

A battery stores electricity so it can be used at a different time. With suitable solar equipment, it can store some surplus generation from the day for use when demand rises or daylight falls. Some systems can also charge from the grid, depending on their settings and your electricity tariff.

It is worth considering the whole picture: how much energy is available to store, when you need it, the usable capacity and power of the battery, and the cost of the complete arrangement. Adding storage is a project decision, not an automatic saving.

THE RIGHT FIT, BEFORE THE RIGHT SIZE

Storage needs
its own questions.

01

Energy or power?

Capacity describes the energy a battery can hold. Power describes the rate at which it can supply electricity. Both matter: an energy figure alone cannot tell you which appliances can run together or for how long.

02

New system or existing solar?

For an existing installation, share the inverter and panel information you have. Compatibility, electrical condition, available space and the existing warranties need checking before an addition is proposed. Do not assume every battery works with every inverter.

03

What happens in a power cut?

A battery does not automatically make a property independent of the grid. Backup capability requires suitable equipment, an agreed design and appropriate installation. Ask exactly which circuits would be supplied and under what conditions.

04

What should you compare?

Look at usable capacity, output, control settings, installation requirements and warranty conditions together. Ask about degradation, maintenance, support and how the system will be handed over. Have the assumptions behind any savings estimate explained in writing.
